Red River is a hidden gem when it comes to small mountain towns in New Mexico! In the wintertime, you can catch me snowboarding down the slopes, shopping at the Red River Jewelry Lady, or having a cold beer at the local brewery. This is also the place that Kait (the bride) and I would run off to in college just to get away for the weekend! Therefore, it was a no-brainer when Kait called me to capture her New Mexico elopement in this special little town.

Ten years ago, a mutual friend told Kait and Heath how they had the perfect person for the other, and invited them both to an American Aquarium concert. Kait says that they were both in a free-spirited stage of life, and they never passed the friend zone. In 2020 they reconnected, falling hard and fast madly in love! On the day of their elopement, Kait told me “Living life as best friends and lovers, it doesn’t get much better than that”!

The day started with a slow breakfast and getting ready. One thing they stressed to me about eloping was that they didn’t want to feel rushed or stressed on time. Keeping things more traditional, they got ready in two separate cabins and didn’t see each other until the ceremony. They laughed, cried, and exchanged their vows to one another on the south side of town by a small pond with a great view of the mountains. After all the big-picture moments, we headed back into town for their small reception at the Red River Community House. It was the sweetest day for some of my sweetest friends!
