Airbnb Wedding Planning Guide

If you can’t afford an expensive venue, why not find locations that are more affordable? Airbnb is an online service that allows people to rent out their living space for a short period of time. Airbnb now has beautiful homes that also provide event space! Planning an Airbnb wedding can be challenging, but with a little research, you’ll be able to find the perfect venue!

Find an Airbnb that allows events!

Finding an Airbnb that allows events can be a daunting task. Luckily for you, we’ve got you covered!

Step 1: Search on Airbnb.com

Search for “Airbnb” and click on the “Hosting” tab. This tab allows you to search for any host who is willing to host your event.

Step 2: Check Their Policies

Once you’ve found a few hosts that are willing to host your event, it’s time to check their policies. Look at their rules and regulations, like whether or not they allow parties or weddings at their location. If they don’t allow events, no sweat—just keep searching! If they do allow events, make sure to read over their guidelines carefully so that you’re clear on what they expect from their guests during the duration of your stay.

Look for an Airbnb that can accommodate all your guests.

This applies to all wedding planning but when hosting your wedding at an Airbnb, you need to consider your guest count for the day. Make sure the location you choose can accommodate all the guests who will be attending the wedding and don’t forget to think about parking. Vendors who are working on your wedding will need a place to pull in and unload. This is sometimes overlooked and becomes a hassle on the big day!

Choose an Airbnb with amenities (like a pool or hot tub) that reflect the feel of your wedding.

While searching for the perfect place to say “I Do”, having cool amenities could elevate your wedding day! Therefore, finding a home with a spacious backyard, a rooftop terrace, or a pool could be a major bonus.

Make sure the interior design of the house is in line with your wedding theme.

Matching your wedding theme to the interior and exterior of the home can make or break the way your wedding images turn out. For example, I have seen the mistake of choosing a venue that is rustic with a moody vibe, then choosing a theme like a garden party… they just don’t mix.

Plan where you will situate different elements from your Airbnb wedding inside the house and out.

Once you have an Airbnb pick and are in the planning process of your wedding day, consider where you want to have the ceremony, dinner, DJ, catering, etc. Consider visiting the home beforehand to take pictures and plan out how you want the layout to look. In the event that the weather wants to change plans, make sure you have a “Plan B” for your event.
