Colorado is known for its beautiful mountain peaks, crystal-clear alpine lakes, dense evergreen hiking trails, and incredible Sunrises and Sunsets. Sapphire Point Overlook, nestled just between Keystone and Breckenridge, offers couples the ultimate elopement spot that looks out onto all the best scenery the state has to offer.
If you’re planning an elopement or intimate wedding in Colorado and have been looking for a dreamy outdoor ceremony location with endless views, look no further! Sapphire Point Overlook is the ideal spot to bring your Colorado ceremony dreams to life. I met Brooke and Brady here to help them say I Do and am still awe-struck by their beautiful celebration. Here’s a look into their ceremony day, along with some tips and tricks for planning a Sapphire Point Overlook elopement of your own!
Sapphire Point Overlook is located in Dillon, Colorado, just 15 minutes from Breckenridge! It soars 9,500ft over Dillon Reservoir, with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains. Sapphire Point is a day-use overlook and hiking area. The hiking trail, the Sapphire Point Overlook Trail, is an easy 0.6-mile loop through towering evergreens. There are two viewing areas at the beginning of the trail. The first area is open to any visitors. Here, guests can view and take pictures of Lake Dillon and nearby Red Peak.
The second viewing area and ceremony location, the Overlook, requires a three-hour reservation block for private gatherings. It is the only designated site where wedding ceremonies are permitted to take place in the Dillon Ranger District. These reservations can be booked on recreation.gov six months in advance at $128.00 per reservation. The Overlook is just under a 5-minute walk from the trailhead!
Sapphire Point Overlook is accessible via a parking lot off Swan Mountain Road. There are restrooms located at the beginning of the trail, just off the parking lot, along with a trail map and National Forest guidelines!
Brooke and Brady’s love was mesmerizing. From the moment I met them, I loved their sweet chemistry and shared passion for outdoor activities like horseback riding and hunting. The couple made the trip to Sapphire Point Overlook for their elopement from Kansas. This trip was extra special for the couple because neither Brooke nor Brady had been to Colorado yet! I just knew they would fall in love with the snow-dusted Rocky Mountains, wildlife, and epic overlooks.
We started the day by meeting up with Brooke for some getting-ready photos. She wore a delicate, white lace dress with white heels. The dress looked absolutely stunning on her; she was glowing! We then met with Brady and the couple’s families for the first look. Brooke and Brady’s reaction when they saw one another was so pure and sweet. They stood back to back in a field full of knee-high grass before spinning excitedly to see one another. The bright Colorado sun illuminated the mountains in the distance and highlighted the happiness on their faces so perfectly. Their love for each other was tear-jerking throughout the entire afternoon and evening, but the first look, in particular, stole my heart.
After the couple’s first look, vows, and field portrait shots, it was time for Brooke and Brady’s intimate elopement ceremony. We drove up to Sapphire Point Overlook and were surrounded by a few loved ones who were excited to join the couple for the big evening!
Brooke and Brad’s ceremony took place right at Sunset. Sapphire Point Overlook is basically a natural rock altar, so the couple was surrounded by large rocks and flat stones as they said I Do! After the ceremony, Brooke and Brady had their first dance as an officially married couple. This was such a special and intimate moment I was able to capture for the couple. Afterward, we took time to do a few portraits before ending the night with heartfelt, celebratory goodbyes.
